Skin Warts, reasons, types, and treatments

What Are Warts?

A wart is a common rough scaly lesion that is commonly found on the hands and feet but can occur anywhere on the body. A wart is caused by one of the human papillomavirus (HPV) strands. Please also consider that children, as their immune systems are developing, and older individuals, whose immune systems may weaken with age, are more likely to develop warts.

What are the reasons for Skin Warts?

Warts are sexually-transmitted infections (STI). They are  HPV viruses that can spread from one person to another by having close interaction. Warts can transfer by using the same shower floor, bathmat or even by touch.

What are the types of Warts?

There are five major types of warts: common warts, flat warts, periungual warts, Filiform warts, and Plantar warts.

Common warts: Common warts can appear on any part of the body but the most common area is the back of our finger.  They look thick rough and grainy. They are dark gray. Their size is 1mm to 1cm. Common warts are not painful but irritate you.

Plantar warts: These warts grow on our toes and fingers. It Looks like a small hole in your foot which is surrounded by a hard area. Plantar warts can affect your walking as they become more painful while walking.

Filiform warts: These warts grow around the nose, neck, under the chin area, and around the mouth. These warts can spread to other areas of your skin too. They have quick growth as compared to other areas.

Periungual wart: These warts grow at our fingernails and affect our cuticles. These warts are painful and need to be treated. They can be different in size.

Flat warts: These warts have flat tops. They mostly grow on the face but can be on other areas of our body as well.

Treatment forWart removal

Immunotherapy: One of the reasons for warts is a weak immune system. There are treatments like immunotherapy to stimulate the immune system to attack the wart, such as injecting antigens into the wart or applying a substance.

Excision: This process includes cutting the wart out with a scalpel. Excision is typically used for more extensive or stubborn warts.

Cryotherapy: This method includes using liquid nitrogen to freeze the wart, which ultimately causes it to fall off.

Electrosurgery: This method includes burning off the wart with a light electrical current.

Angela is beyond helpful and definitely goes above and beyond with her customer service. I contacted her about a skin tag removal and she ended up also educating me on dpn. I ended up getting both procedures done and I couldn't be happier. Her followup check ups have been very reassuring and helpful.

Wonderful experience with Angela from Mobile skin screening. She was able to treat my sebaceous hyperplasia when I was told there was nothing that could be done to improve my skin. I am so happy with the results and I would highly recommend her.

We’re here to all your questions

Here are a few frequently asked questions from people who want to get their warts removed. If you have any other queries, please send them to us.

There are many ways to get rid of warts, including using salicylic acid, cryotherapy, and applying liquid nitrogen on your wart.

It would be best if you did not treat warts by yourself. It is precarious. Although there are easy-to-use medicated solutions, all of them are at high risk. Your skin is precious and demands expert care.

Electrosurgery is the fastest treatment for warts. This method includes burning off the wart with a light electrical current. Still, you must consult a healthcare professional for personalized advice for the most effective approach for your skin.

Cryotherapy, salicylic acid, freezing, and apple cider vinegar (ACV) are a few ways to get rid of warts naturally.
